Imaging team captures community spirit at triathlon

Sunday 26th February 2023 was a day of determination, endorphins and comradery as Monash Health Imaging employees made waves at the Melbourne Teams Corporate Triathlon.

This year’s event saw an even bigger group from Monash Health Imaging than last year, with 44 employees across 15 teams participating in the triathlon: swimming, cycling and running. Along with our employees were a huge number of friends, families and colleagues cheering them on throughout the day!

Kristy Grossmann, Client Relationship Manager of Imaging is thrilled that the Monash Health Stronger Together Wellbeing grant was put to good use for the team-building initiative.

“The occasion embodied the community spirit that runs strong amongst the Monash Health Imaging team with representatives from all areas of the department participating in the triathlon.”

On the back of last year’s success, the initiative was several months in the making. Coordinating the initiative was led by Dr. Lee-Anne Slater and Dr. Sasha Stanislavsky. My Linh Diep, one of our nuclear medicine technologists, was also instrumental in providing organisational support.

“[My Linh] is now thinking about putting on her running shoes and taking it one step further next year and jumping in a team herself.”

Even after a long triathlon, the team summoned all their strength for the Corporate Colours event – a dance-off that happens after the race. The winning team is judged by which performance received the loudest cheer. And the Monash Health Imaging team is confident about coming back to win the dance-off next year.

“Radiographer Phoebe Young choreographed a dance for the Corporate Colours event.”

“We put in a valiant performance coming in as runners-up, however will be looking to take the top spot next year!”

The Monash Health Imaging athletes would like to thank all the supporters that came out to cheer and encourage them. A special mention goes to Associate Professor Anjali Dhulia, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Director, Medical Services who attended the event to support the teams and see first-hand what this team-building initiative is all about.

As another year of Tri’ing finishes up, we are already looking to what 2024’s event will bring!
