Learning Emotional Literacy – Digital Wellbeing Series spotlight

Emotional literacy is the ability to recognise and label emotions as you are experiencing them. It may sound simple to some people, but emotional literacy is an important skill we can practice in our daily lives to improve our sense of happiness and our mental health.

Research shows we often feel positive and negative emotions at the same time, and that these emotions come from a vast spectrum. Learning to label these emotions as we experience them gives us the ability to communicate how we feel, and immediately disarms the intensity of the emotion.

For the next month our Digital Wellbeing series is focussing on how you can learn emotional literacy.

Available for all our employees, the Digital Wellbeing Series by the Resilience Project includes ten 3-minute videos covering topics including gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness.

Each month we spotlight a different topic in our Digital Wellbeing Series and share new strategies you can introduce into your daily routine to prioritise your health and mental wellbeing.

Access the Digital Wellbeing series

To access the Digital Wellbeing Series and to watch the video on ‘Emotional Literacy’, log in to LATTE and search ‘The Resilience Project’ under the ‘Find Learning’ tab.

To learn more about The Resilience Project, visit their website. For more information, resources and log in details for the Digital Wellbeing Series, visit the Monash Health COVID-19 employee website. Keep an eye out for next month’s spotlight, where the topic is ‘Devices’.

You can access all 10 topics of the Digital Wellbeing Series. However, the monthly spotlights aim to help you focus on one topic at a time. To make new lasting habits, it is important to start small, add in one change at a time and to remain consistent. If you feel more comfortable, you can complete all modules in your own time.
