At Monash Health, our aim is to reduce barriers that prevent people with a disability from accessing and participating in our services. And we know that by having the right behaviours, attitudes, systems and knowledge, we can provide an environment that successfully includes people with disability, as employees, patients and consumers.
Join us at our Manager Briefing at 2pm, Wednesday 21 September, for a Disability Confident Managers training session, run by the Australian Network on Disability (AND).
The training will help our managers to confidently manage people with disability within their teams and facilitate an inclusive and enabling workplace. At the completion of training, you will:
- understand the importance of disability confidence for individuals and the whole organisation
- have greater awareness of what disability is in the Australian society
- be confident in using the right language and doing the right things
- understand the key concepts, such as workplace adjustments, essential requirements and sharing information
- understand disclosure of disability from both employee’s and employer’s perspective
- have awareness of the legislative requirements and considerations to the management of risk, and
- know where to go for further information and assistance.
The interactive session will be led by Stephanie Siv, Relationship Manager at the Australian Network on Disability using discussion, scenarios and video. As always at these briefings, there will also be the opportunity to have your questions answered through Slido, using the code #MHMB2022.
