Director of Anaesthesia appointed for Victorian Heart Hospital

Dr Andrew Silvers has been appointed as the inaugural Director of Anaesthesia for the Victorian Heart Hospital.

Dr Silvers has extensive experience in cardiothoracic anaesthesia. He spent many years working and training at the University of California, Davis Medical Centre, USA, before returning to Australia and commencing at Alfred Health as a staff anaesthetist, where he was central to anaesthesia for the cardiac and lung transplantation programs.   As well as clinical practice, Dr Silvers has been heavily involved in teaching and research programs.

Dr Silvers joined Monash Health in 2011, principally focused on cardiothoracic anaesthesia, and most recently led Monash Health’s Department of Anaesthesia COVID-19 strategy.  He holds an academic appointment within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science at Monash University.
