The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for large parts of Victoria.
Heavy rainfall is expected, which may lead to flash flooding and is forecast from Wednesday to Friday this week, with heaviest falls forecast overnight from Thursday to Friday.
Our Site Support and Engineering teams are preparing our buildings and facilities, and there are several things that you can do to ensure your safety while at work, while travelling and at home.
Clayton Main Visitor Car Park
- The lifts in the Main Visitor Car Park at the Clayton site will be closed from 9pm Wednesday and are planned to reopen at 6.30am Thursday morning – however, we will monitor the conditions and keep the lifts closed until appropriate to reopen.
- The basement level of the car park will be closed until the current weather front has passed.
- Contingencies are in place to manage the lift and basement closures.

- Ensure you are familiar with Emergency Codes and Business Continuity Plans in case of flood/power outages.
- Park your car undercover and away from trees.
- Stay inside if conditions outside appear dangerous.
- Never walk or wade into flooded areas or floodwaters, they pose risks from underwater hazards, contaminants and drowning.
What to do if you are driving
- During severe weather, limit driving only to trips that are necessary and plan to travel during less severe weather.
- If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low lying areas and floodwater.
- Be aware of road hazards such as mud, debris and damaged roads or bridges.
- Never drive through floodwaters, 15cm (6in) of water is enough to float a car.
