A calmer, quieter arrival

Improving the patient and visitor experience is the focus of the upgrade works that will commence soon at Monash Medical Centre.

“We know how important first impressions are for visitors and patients, and our main entry and busiest corridors can be noisy and congested at the moment,” said Dr Rachel Rosler, Deputy Chief Operating Officer.

The project aims to bring a more open, contemporary design to the main reception and main thoroughfares at Monash Medical Centre.

“A focus for this project has been to reduce noise, improve lighting, and have a more natural flow to the spaces,” Rachel said. “It’s an exciting project that we hope will boost the sense of pride our employees have in the site and our services.”

While the project will cause disruption during its phased timeline of works, upon completion it will patients and visitors to arrive in a calmer, more peaceful environment.

“Special new acoustic panelling will dampen sound in the spaces, and we will have much-improved lighting options for the main thoroughfares of the site,” Rachel said.

Disruption and corridor closures at the site will require people to use alternative routes to move around the site. Extensive wayfinding support will be in place and updated maps are available for employees to download now.

“It really is short-term pain for long-term gain,” Rachel said, “since we will be delivering such a significant improvement to the patient experience.”

“And for employees who spend many, many hours moving through these spaces it will improve our experience as well.”
