Sunday Night Shift Allowance Trial – Nurses & Midwives Agreement

Effective from 1 July 2023, a trial for a higher Sunday night shift allowance will commence for nurses and midwives employed under the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024 (the Agreement).

As a result of the trial, the Sunday night shift allowance will increase from $89.90 to $154.63 for the life of the Agreement.

The purpose of the trial is to test the premise that increasing the Sunday night shift allowance for full-time and part-time nursing and midwifery employees (including fixed-term) will decrease the use of casual and agency staff.

The higher Sunday night shift allowance only applies to full-time and part-time employees, including those engaged on a fixed-term basis. It does not include casual employees, Directors of Nursing or Deputy Directors of Nursing.
