Become an EMR Champion today!

EMR Champions are essential to ensuring we are working in the safest and most effective possible manner; supporting excellence in timely care and the best outcomes for our patients and their loved ones.

EMR Champions have been integral to Monash Health since the EMR implementation, and the Digital Health Training & Adoption Department (DHTA) is looking to recruit new Champions! This includes Medical, Nursing, Allied Health, Pharmacy and Clerical disciplines.

What do EMR Champions do?

EMR Champions work within wards, units, and departments in their usual roles and provide local EMR guidance to their colleagues supporting the correct use of the EMR, and provide local updates on changes to the EMR to their peers and colleagues.

The EMR Champions role involves:

  • Advocating and driving the adoption of EMR Best Practice use in the local areas (ward/unit/department)
  • Liaising and learning from DHTA to develop skills and understanding of EMR Best Practice Use
  • Working with DHTA to identify areas requiring improvement from local area in using the EMR
  • Attending in-services on EMR Best Practice use for your respective area

Who can be an EMR Champion?

We recommend champions are selected from those who regularly use the EMR and are familiar with frequently used systems, devices and workflows, along with leaders and managers of local areas.

Most areas should aim to have enough Champions to provide support across all shifts, so we recommend managers discuss with your area and nominate several people.

How to nominate an EMR Champion

Champions can be nominated by their Manager or Self-nominated.

If you choose to nominate yourself, please ensure your manager knows about your nomination.

You can nominate EMR Champions for your area using the EMR Champions Expression of Interest Form.
