From Tuesday the 15th of August the Level 2 corridor connecting the Zuppa Café to the Yellow Lifts/Diagnostic Imaging will be closed for approximately two weeks.
This closure is necessary as part of upgrade works to flooring throughout the site.
“We’ve had excellent feedback on the flooring upgrades so far,” said Dr Rachel Rosler, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Monash Medical Centre. “This corridor closure will involve some disruption but ultimately we know this project will deliver a much calmer environment for employees, patients, and visitors.”
The corridor closure will mean a UKG screen adjacent to Zuppa Café and nearby toilets (including an accessible toilet) will not be accessible. The nearest UKG screen is on Level 1 near the Blue Lifts, and the nearest accessible toilets are in the Specialist Consulting entry corridor, near pharmacy.
Handout maps are available showing all this information, and guides will be on hand to provide wayfinding support.
“We understand this will cause disruption for patients, visitors, and employees,” said Anna Laird, Director of Capital Projects. “We’re working to minimise these disruptions, and we’re pleased with how well the project is progressing overall. It will deliver significant upgrades and improvements for the main foyer and some of our busiest spaces. We ask that employees take care while moving around the site, particularly on Level 1 where there are frequently trolleys sharing that space.”
Employees are asked to provide support for patients and visitors as they move around the site wherever possible. Visitors will be able to pick up a map upon entry that guides them along alternate routes, so please provide additional guidance and direction if a visitor seems unsure of their location.
A Site Forum was hosted earlier this week with further details of the closure and impacts across the site. To view a recording of this forum click here.
