The Front Entry works at Monash Medical Centre reached a milestone today as construction hoarding was removed from the main foyer area, opening the space up and unveiling a calmer, quieter arrival space.
Patients, visitors, and employees can now move around a more open main foyer, with improved lighting and acoustic paneling to ensure a calmer experience.
“We appreciate the patience of employees, visitors, and patients during these works,” said Martin Keogh, Interim Chief Executive.

“We’re very excited to unveil this area today. Thousands of people come through Monash Medical Centre’s doors every day, and a lot of thought and planning has gone into these works to deliver a significantly improved first-impression.”
This marks a major milestone for the program of works in and around the front entry, that are designed to deliver an improved arrival area and a more contemporary feel to the site.
New lighting, acoustic panels, and flooring have been well received throughout the main thoroughfares of Monash Medical Centre.
“While we had a major focus on the patient and visitor experience, we were equally aware that our employees spend many hours in this space, so we are delighted to deliver them an improved environment,” Martin said.
“We are very pleased with the results so far. There are some minor upgrades still underway, but we are particularly pleased that the most significant disruption and detours are now over.”
Photo wall tells a story

As part of the construction hoarding being removed, a new piece of artwork has been unveiled.
A long photo mural has been installed as part of the construction works, with Monash Health’s own Creative Team developing the design and photography installation.
The piece includes an acknowledgement of country as well as a curated selection of imagery that draws visitors into the full breadth of Monash Health’s clinical and support services.
“This has been under wraps for some time, so we’re glad people will finally get to see the finished product,” said Chris Meekin, Senior Manager of Creative and Digital Services.
“Credit goes to Lauretta Ah Sam, our fantastic photographer who captured many of the images seen,” Chris said, “as well as Marika Petrie, our Graphic Designer who was able to bring the images together wonderfully to tell a story of Monash Health, our employees, our patients, and our community.”
