At today’s employee forum, Chief Executive Andrew Stripp presented the last STAR Award for the quarter, Exceptional Teamwork. The winner in this category is Monash Health’s Lung Function Laboratory. If you missed the employee forum, you can watch the recording here.
The Lung Function laboratory at Monash Health is one of the largest providers of lung function assessment in Australia. The tests undertaken in the laboratory require considerable time, patience and engagement with the patient.
Patients visiting the laboratory are made to feel welcome and the team are great at developing the interpersonal relationships required for effective assessment. Recent quality surveys demonstrate that the clients of the service consistently rate the laboratory employees very highly for politeness, helpfulness, attentiveness and presentation.
The laboratory is also responsible for managing the domiciliary oxygen program for Monash Health, which provides home oxygen provision for patients with severe lung disease. The laboratory team go above and beyond, providing liaison support for government funding and services and out of hours testing to clients who cannot make regular appointment times.
The team has been instrumental in developing new data management tools to interface with EMR. The Monash Health laboratory is the first facility in Australia to implement the application, making them leaders in the field of respiratory function assessment. They also provide scientific support to a wide range of clinical research projects with a number of presentations at national conferences, and publications in peer reviewed journals.
The team work together, day in day out, to uphold excellence in every area of their service. Congratulations to the Lung Function Laboratory!
