At yesterday’s employee forum, Chief Executive Andrew Stripp awarded the second STAR Award for Q4 2021 for Exceptional Teamwork.
This category recognises an individual, group or team who demonstrates outstanding teamwork qualities. This may include building an inclusive, high-performing culture, and putting quality and kindness at the heart of everything they do.
The winner in this category is Katie Evans. Katie has worked as an oncology and breast care nurse at Monash Health for over 20 years and is currently a McGrath Breast Cancer Nurse at Dandenong and Casey Hospital.
Recently, Katie stepped into the role of Acting Nurse Manager for the Breast Services Team, while the department underwent a challenging change process. Katie has been recognised by her team for her proactive leadership, positive attitude and commitment to training and development while in this role.
Katie is described as always going above and beyond for her team and for her patients, with the ability to adapt and respond to challenges as they arise. Katie has a can-do attitude and promotes a positive team environment.
Katie prompted regular team check-ins, was always the first to acknowledge others’ contributions and achievements, and ensured onboarding, training and certification processes went smoothly and were kept up to date.
The Breast Services Team is grateful for the stability, guidance and listening ear Katie brought to the team, alongside her great sense of humour.
Through her own achievements and passion for her role, Katie inspires others to pursue professional development opportunities and encourage continuous improvements to the Breast Services Team for the benefit of our patients and the team.
When asked how receiving this award made her feel, Katie expressed her gratitude for her team and felt honoured to be recognised by her colleagues.
“I would like to thank my team and the wider members of the Breast Services Multi-Disciplinary Team for their ongoing support and contributions. It is a privilege to receive this award and to be nominated by my team.”
