Today we awarded the STAR Award for Exceptional Teamwork to the crew at Clayton Theatres.
This award is for a group who demonstrate outstanding teamwork qualities, by building an inclusive, high-performing culture, working together to improve systems, processes and the work environment, or putting quality and kindness at the heart of everything they do.
Danielle Planner, Nurse Unit Manager, Brendan Ingram, Anaesthetics Director, and Melinda Collins, Director of Clinical Operations accepted the award on behalf of the broader theatre team.
The nomination came about one busy Friday night when a pregnant woman was rushed into theatre. Her baby’s cord had collapsed, and the entire team sprang into action. After an emergency Caesarean section, the baby was resuscitated, and both the mother and child survived.
That same night the team finished off a tap and inject on a 101-year-old patient, a renal transplant and testicular torsion. Working together under these high stress situations, the Clayton Theatres team make miracles happen for their patients every day.
“I want to acknowledge the fabulous team who were involved in managing what was a very challenging situation,” Danielle says. “Their timely response and prioritisation of patient care ensured the best possible outcome for all patients were achieved. Thank you to Anita, Hyacinth, Fermin, Jily, Bonnie, Joyce, Eleanor, Thushara, Angus and Charles for all their hard work, dedication and most importantly, teamwork, throughout what was a very busy shift!”
Thank you, Danielle, Brendan and Melinda, and thank you to the whole team at Clayton Theatres for all the work that you do.
