Our STAR Award winner for “Outstanding Care or Service Delivery” is James Dalabiras, an Administration Officer based at Monash Medical Centre.
This award is given for achieving excellent results in key performance areas, delivering consistently high-quality service, and establishing a pattern of continuous improvement.
James received two nominations for this category!
Amanda McLeod, a Medical Education Officer, made one of these nominations. Amanda did not know James’s name when she first decided to make the nomination, so she described his personality to his colleagues. Each person Amanda spoke to replied, “Oh, you must be talking about James!”
You may have met James, as he is often stationed at the main entrance to Monash Medical Centre. James is unfailingly polite and helpful, always smiling even when he is assisting distressed or anxious visitors.
James is a wonderful representative of Monash Health. He embodies the guiding principles and iCare values, demonstrating respect, kindness and compassion in each of his interactions.
“The work I do at Monash Health brings me immense joy and I feel honoured to be recognised for my contribution to the community,” James says. “The level of care and service I provide truly comes from the heart. I realise that hospitals aren’t always the easiest place for our staff, patients and their loved ones to attend, so I take pride in doing the best I can to help them, support them and play my part in making their time here as positive as it can be.”
James’s colleagues want to say a big thank you for all the work he does, and for being the smiling face welcoming employees, patients and visitors alike to Monash Medical Centre.
“I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to those who nominated me for this award,” says James. “I want to take the opportunity to recognise my colleagues, the screening team, the administrative reception staff and management for their hard work and dedication. It is a blessing to work with people who feel like family. Afterall, we are one team and each individual contributes to supporting not only each other, but the wider community as well.”
