We know the flu is already here and in our community, impacting our health services and as Professor Rhonda Stuart said recently, “We’ve also seen some severe illnesses in some of our employees.”
Morgan Jenkins, Adult Clinical and Quality Practice Lead / Associate Nurse Manager, Emergency Department at Monash Medical Centre received his Influenza vaccine during one of our roaming vaccination services.
“I think it’s very important for everyone to get vaccinated, particularly those who work in healthcare. Every area is short staffed and running on steam. Having the flu vaccination can help prevent you from bringing the flu home from work and infecting family and friends.
“I’ve also got a two-and-a-half-year-old in childcare, and as everyone knows that childcare is a real melting pot of viruses and other not very nice things. My wife and I are both vaccinated, and we are also planning on getting the little one vaccinated for the above reasons.”

If you have not received your flu vaccination for the 2023 season, we urge you to get vaccinated to get in front of the flu now. This month, ongoing vaccination for Influenza will become limited. You can find opportunities to get vaccinated for Influenza for free here.
If you have received your influenza vaccine outside of Monash Health, it is important that you fill out the online declaration form to tell us that you have received your flu vaccination elsewhere this year.
If you are not planning on receiving the influenza vaccine, you still need to fill out the form and let us know you are not participating. Declaration is mandatory. The form takes less than one minute to complete, all you need is your Monash Health employee ID number.
You can receive your COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as your Influenza vaccination at Monash Immunisation, Monash Medical Centre.
Managers and leaders, please take a moment to review the Flu Vaccination – BI Dashboard to check the status of your team members and encourage those that haven’t yet received their flu vaccination, to do so as soon as possible.
For more information about the employee flu vaccination program at Monash Health, visit our Getting an Influenza (flu) vaccination page via the Employee Vaccination Hub. You will also find the answers to more frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the employee flu vaccinations.
