We’re Stronger Together! Showcasing the success of our Team Wellbeing Grants

The popular Stronger Together Team Wellbeing Grants program has ended recently with great success. Over the last six months, teams from various departments, units and areas have been implementing their own team-based health and wellbeing activities, supported by the grants.

With over 300 successful applications, our Team Wellbeing Grants helped to support:

  • 702 hours of massage
  • 156 hours of support from Be Well Team
  • 15 Converge Wellbeing sessions
  • 10 online Fitness sessions (Medibank)
  • 33 Sessions for HealthWise
  • 71 Relaxation/Meditation sessions

The grants also enabled teams to organise their own team development activities. Here’s just a few examples of what our teams got up to:

Mosiac Class – Diabetes Outpatient and Education team

Our Diabetes Outpatient and Education Team completed a Mosaic Class. They created two designs, one depicting Monash Health’s iBelong icon and another of the Monash Health logo icon.

About the class, Manager Michelle Gribble shared, “The event was highly enjoyed by all who attended. We have created two mosaic pieces. One of these is now displayed at Dandenong Hospital Diabetes Reception and the other at Monash Health Diabetes Reception.”

Bowling – Cardiology Ambulatory Services team

From the wards to the bowling alley: Our Cardiology Ambulatory Services team (pictured) and Emergency Department Care Coordination teams engaged in some friendly competition at a tenpin bowling session.

Escape Room – Podiatry team

Refining their teamwork and problem-solving skills, the Podiatry team challenged themselves to an escape room session. To “escape” their challenge rooms, the team had to complete various puzzles, solve riddles, find clues and triggers to release locks and hidden objects.

Movie night and wellbeing packs – HOPE, Oakleigh team

The HOPE, Oakleigh team had a team outing at the movies one evening to relax and connect with each other, as well as wellbeing packs which included skin care and pampering products, creatively put together by manager, Caroline Le Brun.

Art class – Neurophysiology team

The Neurophysiology Team participated in an art class and created beautiful paintings that light up under a blacklight.

Sports day – Dental services team

In collaboration with volunteers from Cricket Victoria, our Dental Services employees held a celebratory sports day. The day enabled the team to recognise and reward their hard work and dedication, while improving their health and wellbeing.

Melbourne Teams Corporate Triathlon – Imaging team

44 employees across 15 teams from our Imaging department participated in the Melbourne Teams Corporate Triathlon, along with a huge number of friends, families and colleagues cheering them on throughout the day. Even after a long triathlon, the team placed second in a Corporate Colours event dance-off after the race.

There were many more team activities accomplished with the support of the Stronger Together Team Wellbeing Grants, which were received with great appreciation. Here’s what some employees had to say about their team’s activities:

  • “Our staff are beyond grateful and excited. Whilst we await some minor engineering works to the room which will be turned into our ‘staff-only quiet space’, we have put together an A3 vision board for our staff room, which essentially captures all the items that we purchased with the grant money”
  • “Words cannot describe how excited I feel to have a night out with my second family and feel appreciated by my workplace.”
  • “On behalf of all Unit 3 staff, I am expressing sincere gratitude for the seated massage session. We all enjoyed the session and was quite beneficial and relaxing.”
  • “Just would like to thank you so very much for facilitating the Relaxation and Meditation sessions for our midwives at Monash Medical Centre. Lovely feedback from the midwives who attended and I particularly enjoyed the sessions very much, having 30 minutes of self-care.”

Congratulations to all the teams and managers who took the opportunity to facilitate these wellbeing initiatives across our organisation.

Beyond the Stronger Together Team Wellbeing Grants, we have and continue to prioritise the wellbeing of all our employees. We have a number of ongoing initiatives and resources available to support you including our Employee Wellbeing Programs and external resources and services.
